Community Initiatives 2022

Chicago Sky Community Outings

Chicago's very own 2021 WNBA Champions had an amazing 2022 season! Thank you to Sky Cares for welcoming Common Connections Foundation as a part of the Sky family and for providing a safe, positive and fun experience for our Chicago youth, families and communities this summer.  As we cozy into the fall season, take some warm Chicago Sky summer memories with you. Until next season #GOSKY!!

Block clubs are no longer distant memories. Our elders have shown us what it looks like to care for our neighborhood and community and the people who live next door, down the street and around the corner.

TECH SUCCESS 2020

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, schools were closed down and rapidly transitioned to at home learning to keep our children safe and to mitigate exposure to this highly infectious virus. What we learned was many lower income school districts and families were facing the challenge of technological access and accessibility across the nation.  In the spirit of uplifting and serving our community, Common Connections Foundation embarked on and accomplished its "Tech Success" fundraising mission to ensure readiness and success by gifting three qualifying youth with a laptop, African American literature books, school supplies and face masks for the fall 2020 academic school year. After careful review and consideration of our applicant pool, Ms. Victoria Williams, an educator at Ombudsman Roseland Alternative School was selected to receive our Tech Success Gift Award! We recognize that all of our applicants are worthy and deserving of technological access and we hope to expand and continue this initiative in future. We wish all our applicants success this fall academic year and beyond!

COVID-19 SAFETY 2020

With the rapid spread of the coronavirus, Common Connections Foundation is dedicated to help keep our communities safe.  Our goal is to distribute 5,000 face masks to individuals and organizations throughout our Chicago communities, particularly  our south and west side communities that have been impacted the hardest, to help mitigate the spread of this highly infectious and potentially deadly virus. Twenty individuals and community organizations are currently earmarked to receive face mask donations.  We welcome and encourage those in need and who have experienced a shortage to submit a request on our contact page while supplies last.
