Building a Better Future for Inner Wellness,
Common Connections Foundation assisted in shared a community opportunity for training and certification in Mental Health First Aid sponsored by South Chicago Neighborhood Network at no cost. MHFA teaches how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance-use disorders. Attendees learned about the History of MHFA in the United States, risk factors and warning signs for non-suicidal self-injury and warning signs of substance-abuse dependence. Classes were facilitated by faith community nurse, LaShondria Purnell.
